Bold, Classic, and Custom: Striped Wallpaper for Every Interior
a simple name with serious design chops
We’re not a faceless mega-brand. Our focus is narrow by design: one pattern, endlessly reimagined. At Striped Wallpaper, we’re obsessed with the impact a single, clean line can make. A stripe can whisper or shout, feel buttoned-up or unhinged. It’s design at its most honest: structured, traditional, yet somehow subversive.
why stripes?
Once worn by outcasts (think jesters, prisoners and ladies of the night), stripes were long considered indelicate: too vulgar, too loud, more of a warning than an aspiration.
But somewhere along the way, they crossed into high society. They lined the walls of European courts, appeared on noble canopies and French textiles, and eventually became a mark of refined taste.
Today, stripes still speak both languages. They’re architectural and graphic. Formal and irreverent. Classic, yet constantly reinterpreted. And that’s exactly where we live: at the intersection of elegance and audacity.
Striped Wallpaper is for rebels with a ruler. For those who know the rules, and break them beautifully. For designers and homeowners who want their walls to whisper elegance and hum with tension.
what we do (and the only thing we do)
We make striped wallpaper. Period.
(Okay, we’ll also hook you up with matching striped fabric.)
That’s it. That’s the whole focus. And it’s why we do it really, really well.
From barely-there neutrals with tone-on-tone texture to bold color-blocked designs that stop you mid-scroll, every roll is printed to order.
- Custom colors? Always.
- Scalable patterns? Of course.
- Tailored quality? Without compromise.
Each stripe is hand-matched, hand-trimmed, and inspected in our Los Angeles studio. No mass production. No shortcuts. Just small-batch craftsmanship designed to last.
why stripes work every time
Stripes carry history. Rooted in tradition yet never stuck in it, they bring structure without rigidity, movement without chaos. They can feel calm or commanding, serious or playful.
They’re foundational without being predictable. That’s why our entire collection is devoted to them: patterns that play with rhythm, proportion, and attitude.
why we started this thing
Because no one was giving stripes their due.
Striped wallpaper was treated like an afterthought, and designers were losing hours searching for the right scale, the right palette, the right attitude.
We saw the gap, and filled it with a line that spans minimalist cool, old-world charm, and full-on color swagger. Striped Wallpaper exists to make stripes easy, elevated, and impossible to ignore.
who's behind it?
I’m Teale, a wallpaper designer, fine artist, and small-batch manufacturer, obsessed with making something simple feel truly special.
With roots in classical architecture, preservation, and visual design, I bring both a designer’s eye and an artist’s instinct to every stripe we create. I’m also the founder of my line of artistic wallpapers and textiles, Pearl & Maude, known for unapologetically original and yet, still traditional, patterns.
At Striped Wallpaper, I’ve distilled that same mix of tradition and mischief into a singular focus: stripes as the language of timeless interiors.

Teale Hatheway
Teale Hatheway is a fine artist, entrepreneur, and unapologetic pattern evangelist who believes stripes are the gateway drug to authentic interiors. With deep roots in architectural heritage and a career in preservation and public art, she has spent years transforming walls into stories, infusing them with color, character, and depth.
She is the founder of Pearl & Maude, celebrated for its unapologetically original wallpapers and textiles, and she brings that same painterly mischief to Striped Wallpaper. Her signature style? Grounded in tradition, laced with eccentricity, and always dressed for the occasion.
