Premium Clay Coated
WALLPAPER INSTALLATION
A smooth, matte print surface with the familiar look and feel of traditional paper, designed to minimize glare. A water-based titanium dioxide clay coating provides excellent opacity and allows for easier stripping during removal. Class A fire-rated and suitable for residential and low-traffic commercial interiors. Made in the USA.
IMPORTANT: WALLPAPER IS SUPPLIED UNTRIMMED
We strongly recommend hiring a professional wallpaper installer to install your wallcovering. Be sure that your entire order is inspected and accounted for before hanging.*
Preparation
Remove all old wallpaper and repair damaged areas. Walls must be smooth, clean and free of mold, mildew and grease stains. If necessary, apply a stain killing primer. New, unpainted surfaces, including drywall, should be sealed with an appropriate primer. Follow up with a high quality wallcovering primer sold in your local paint & wallpaper stores. We like Roman Pro-977 Ultra Prime (or another high-quality primer suitable for your wall surface). Do not use glue size.
Protip: On all surfaces that are to be papered, we recommend using a universal, pigmented wallcovering primer/sealer such as Shields. The pigment should be the same color as the background color of your
wallpaper.
Installation
Trimming
This wallpaper comes in wall-length panels with untrimmed selvedge (unpatterned border with print markings on the left and right edges). If your panel is significantly longer than your wall, trim it to the wall height plus a few inches, allowing excess at the ceiling and floor.
For installation, you have two trimming options. For the least visible seam, we recommend #2:
1. Overlap the panels: Trim away the blank selvedge, then overlap panels by 1/2 inch while maintaining the stripe alignment. Seams will be subtle, but visible.
2. Butt join the panels: For the least visible seam, trim away the selvedge and approximately 1/4 inch of the printed area, cutting precisely along the edge of the outermost stripe. Butt the trimmed edges together on the wall. The stripe edge creates a natural transition that helps conceal the seam.
Adhesive
Use a premium-quality clear, premixed wallcovering adhesive. We like Roman Pro-880 Ultra Clear Strippable
Pasting
Apply the adhesive to the back of the wallcovering using a paint roller. Apply smoothly and evenly to cover the back completely, edge to edge. Book the paper by loosely folding each end toward the middle, pasted sides together, aligning the edges carefully so the paste does not dry out. Gently roll the booked piece to ensure the pasted sides make good contact. Do not crease the wallcovering. Allow to soak and expand for 3-5 minutes, making it easier to install. Soak time may vary depending on temperature and humidity at the job site. Do not allow the booked paper to sit so long that the adhesive begins to dry. Paste one or two panels at a time so the paste doesn’t dry.
Alignment
Create a plumb line using a laser or level and straight edge. Use only a lead pencil for marking walls and back of wallcovering. Do not use ballpoint or marking pen as they might bleed through the surface. This will be your guide for positioning the first panel.
Protip: Work in one direction around the room, planning for the first and last panels to meet in the least conspicuous corner, doorway, or other transition rather than in the middle of a prominent wall.
Hanging
Position the first panel along the plumb line. Use a smoothing brush to remove all air pockets, wrinkles, and excess paste by brushing the wallcovering from the center to the edges. A seam roller can be used to lightly roll the edges, taking care not to push adhesive out from beneath the seam. Do not overwork the seams, as this may cause them to shrink as the wallpaper dries.
Overlap or butt join the next panel while matching the pattern. Again, use a smoothing brush to remove all air pockets, wrinkles, and excess paste by brushing the wall covering from the center to the edges.
Trim excess wallpaper at the ceiling and baseboard using a sharp blade and straightedge.
Wipe Clean
Do not allow adhesive to dry on the surface as it may leave a residue or damage the finish. Gently wash adhesive completely from the surface of the wallcovering immediately after each panel is hung with warm water and a damp sponge. Rinse sponge in clean water after every use. Blot dry with a clean cloth. Use a soft-bristle brush to wash the ceiling and the baseboard to remove any paste residue.
* If flaws are found in the print, please contact us immediately at studio@stripedwallpaper.com - before installation. StripedWallpaper.com is not responsible once paper is adhered to the wall.
Before you cut or hang, please be sure you have:
1 - The correct wallcovering, and the correct amount of wallcovering to finish the job.
2 - Inspect the wallcovering carefully to ensure it is free of defects: If no defect is evident before installation, the material should be inspected after three panels are installed. If any defect is evident at this time (or at any point in the installation) no additional material should be hung until StripedWallpaper.com is notified. All claims must be made within 30 days of delivery date.
3 - If a defect is discovered after the wallpaper is all or partially hung, a claim form and photographs must be submitted to studio@stripedwallpaper.com for review.

PhotoTex Self Adhesive
WALLCOVERING INSTALLATION
We have conducted extensive testing to identify the most reliable removable self-adhesive wallcovering. We currently print our peel-and-stick products on PhotoTex® Opaque removable fabric. When installed properly, this material provides excellent adhesion while remaining removable.
IMPORTANT: REMOVABLE WALLPAPER IS SUPPLIED WITH PRE-TRIMMED SELVEDGE
Installation Responsibility
Proper wall preparation and installation conditions are essential for successful adhesion. Because wall surfaces, paint formulations, and environmental conditions vary widely, we cannot guarantee adhesion in every installation environment. Professional installation is recommended.
Required Tools:
• Felt or plastic squeegee
• Sharp utility knife
• Metal straightedge
• Level or laser level
• Ladder
• Microfiber cloth
Inspect product before installation.
Be sure that your entire order is inspected and accounted for before hanging.*
Wall Preparation
Wall preparation is a key component for a successful application of our self adhesive wallcovering. Do not skip this step!
Walls must be smooth, clean and free of mold, mildew and grease stains. Eggshell or satin paint is ideal. Newly painted walls should be allowed to cure for 30 days before application. Avoid heavy texture, brick, or porous surfaces. This product is intended for use on properly prepared painted interior walls.
PhotoTex explicitly advises against using Shieldz primers with its self-adhesive products because of adhesion problems. It also warns against Roman PRO-999.
Certain paints may reduce adhesion, including Sherwin-Williams ProMar 200 and ProMar 400 Zero VOC paints. If installing over these paints, wipe the wall 2–3 times with a 70% alcohol / 30% water solution before installation.
Cleaning: Low-VOC paints can contain additives that reduce adhesion. For best results:
• Wipe the wall with a solution of 70% isopropyl alcohol and 30% water using a lint-free cloth. Do not use straight alcohol.
• Alternatively, clean with warm water and a drop of mild dish soap, then rinse with clean water.
• Allow the wall to dry completely before installation.
Installation
PhotoTex adhesive is repositionable, so you can lift and re-apply while aligning. Panels are printed with as overlap allowance. Do not butt-join seams. Because stripes emphasize vertical alignment, taking time to establish a plumb line before installing the first panel will produce the best visual result.
Pro Tips: Wall chemistry matters. Modern paints with Teflon or stain resistance can reduce adhesion dramatically. Cleaning with an alcohol solution is strongly recommended. Avoid touching the adhesive: skin oils reduce tack. Keep adhesive clean. If dust gets on the adhesive it will lose grip. Temperature matters. Do not install in high humidity or on walls colder than 60°F (15°C).
Step 1: Establish a Plumb Line
• Using a level or laser level, draw a vertical reference line where the first panel will be installed. Walls are rarely perfectly straight, and starting with a plumb line ensures that stripes remain vertical across the installation.
Step 2: Peel Back the Liner
• Peel back 8–10 inches of the liner.
• Crease the backing so it stays out of the way.
Step 3: Position the panel
• Align the panel with the plumb line at the top of the wall.
• Lightly tack the exposed adhesive.
Step 4: Work downward gradually
• Pull liner down 6–8 inches at a time.
• Squeegee from center outward to remove air.
Step 5: Maintain pressure
• Apply firm, even pressure with a squeegee during installation to fully activate the adhesive.
Step 6: Stripe Alignment
• Panels are designed to overlap within a stripe. Align the next panel so that the stripe pattern visually matches before applying pressure with the squeegee.
• Minor adjustments can be made due to the repositionable adhesive.
Step 7: Trim Excess Material
• Use a sharp utility knife and metal straightedge to gently trim excess material at ceilings, baseboards, and corners, without cutting into the wall.
• Replace blades frequently for clean cuts.
Bubble Removal
Bubbles may result from trapped air, surface contamination, insufficient pressure, or incompatible wall conditions. Small air bubbles may diminish within 24–48 hours. Persistent bubbles should be addressed using the methods below.
If bubbles appear:
1. Lift the material and re-apply to release air.
2. Rub firmly with the squeegee.
3. For persistent bubbles, pop with a pin and smooth.
Edges, Corners, and Obstacles
Do not wrap opaque PhotoTex around corners. It can create air pockets.
Instead:
• terminate at the corner
• start a new panel on the adjacent wall.
For outlets and trim:
• install over the area
• cut openings afterward with a sharp knife.
* Important Inspection Notice
Before cutting or installing the wallcovering:
1. Verify that you have received the correct product and sufficient material to complete the installation.
2. Inspect the material carefully for printing defects before installation.
3. After installing the first three panels, inspect the material again before continuing.
If any defect is discovered, stop installation immediately and contact us.
We cannot be responsible for defects once material has been installed. All claims must be submitted within 30 days of delivery.
Liability Limitation
We are not responsible for installation errors, improper wall preparation, environmental conditions, or damage resulting from misuse of the product. Slight color variation between print runs may occur.
